The position is responsible for the preparation of the Material Requirement Plan (MRP), sourcing, PO generation, and delivery schedule to ensure that all needed raw materials are available for continuous flow of production; close monitoring of raw material inventory levels and movements while maintaining company’s target working capital and service level; coordinate with Production and warehouse concerning inventory needs and concerns.

PRICINPAL ACCOUNTIBILITIES:

Prepares and analyzes the following planning reports.

Material Requirement Plan (Time Phase)
Stock Status Reports
Material Variance Reports

Analyzes the Material Requirement Plans Plan and ensures that all needed raw materials are available for the continuous flow of production.

Monitors inventory of raw materials and ensures that stock level is within company’s working capital target.

Monitors data and works closely with production planner and suppliers to advise unusual demands or changes which may require re-scheduling the delivery of materials.

Coordinates closely with Production planner concerning changes on the delivery schedule that can affect the production schedule.

Provides and coordinates forecasts with suppliers for their raw material planning purposes.

Performs other assignment or special projects as requested by superior.

JOB SPECIFICATION:

At least 5 years work experience in related field or College Degree with 2 years experience

APICS Certification preferred but not required

Knowledge of computer applications

Duties & Resonsibilities:

Production Scheduling: Develop master schedule for assigned production lines by working with customer support, purchasing, manufacturing and engineering functions. Provide input to customer support team for delivery commitments to customers. Work with purchasing teams to make sure that raw materials are available at right time, in right quantity and at right place for production. Maintain master scheduling document based on available capacity and materials. Determine production priorities by studying customer requirements and monitoring daily production schedules. Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions. Have joint responsibility (along with business leader and manufacturing manager.) of achieving 98% on time delivery for assigned production lines.

Work Order Management: Create job packages and work orders for Kanban or discrete orders. Follow work orders from creation to release to closing. Close work orders after completion of production.

Inventory: Responsible for WIP & finished goods inventory levels for assigned product lines.

Capacity Planning: Develop and maintain rough cut capacity planning models that provide details on labor and equipment requirements to meet customer demand as well as minimize late productions, WIP & overtime. Highlight potential capacity bottlenecks. Communicate with management about identified bottlenecks and garner support to execute recommendations.

Product Changes / Order Cancelation: Responsible for reporting potential loss of RM/WIP/FG during product changes or order cancelation. Work with engineering, purchasing and manufacturing team in such instances. Act as supply chain representative to approve product/process design changes.

NPI: Provide product planning support during the NPI process to make sure that materials are available during the launch of production. Advise strategy of managing resources/capacity while adding/committing “New Products” in existing Product Lines.

MRP: Take ownership of MRP data such as lot size, Kanban, min-max levels, lead times etc to use MRP system effectively for production and capacity planning. Work with engineering to restructure BOMs for implementing backflushing. Work towards implementing Kanban pull system for finished goods to eliminate work orders.

Reporting: Report management on production, delivery performance, capacity models, WIP & finished goods levels.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Business Management, Engineering, Material Logistics or equivalent & 5+ years related experience in planning/purchasing/inventory in job shop manufacturing environment. CPIM/APICS certification is a huge plus.
Experience in MRP, scientific production scheduling, capacity planning & inventory management is MUST.
Ability to communicate with all levels of management and suppliers both verbally and in writing.
Excellent knowledge of MRP systems, with understanding of relationships among Bill of Material Systems (BMS), Process and Routing Systems (PRS).
Ability to communicate with all levels of management and suppliers both verbally and in writing
Mastery of advanced functionality in Microsoft Excel (ability to modify formulas, import-export data, and filter data, pivot tables), Access & Crystal reports.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work under pressure and deadlines. Strong attention to detail.

Duties & Resonsibilities:
Logistics & Transportation: Coordinate material transfer between plants, warehouses, and customers. Determines most efficient and economical routing and methods of transportation. Analyzes existing process of loading, scheduling and transporting trucks (with drivers) to effect reduction in transportation costs, and prepares reports of estimated savings. Work with outside carriers regarding rates, routing, packing procedures and transportation procedures. Research carriers and negotiate freight rates as needed.
Inventory & Warehousing: Confers with supervisors of other departments to coordinate flow of materials or products from production to warehousing. Conducts studies in areas of packaging, warehousing, and loading of commodities and evaluates existing procedures and standards. Responsible for finished goods inventory. Develop & maintain warehouse and bin locations for finished goods. Maintain inventory accuracy of finished goods. Lead inventory reduction programs to minimize inventory dollar and cost variances. Implement accurate controls and procedures in place by managing cycle count operations and physical inventories. Oversees all material transactions related to finished goods making sure all transactions are accurate and timely. Provide leadership, guidance and support to lean material flow initiatives (pull systems, kan-ban, visual controls, supermarkets etc.)
Departmental: Lead team of 15-20 employees in warehousing, shipping and transportation departments. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. Analyzed and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Submit annual budget for all aspects of logistics and monitor and adjust expenses to stay within the approved budget. Maintain ISO/QS procedures related to warehousing and shipping activities.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Business Management, Engineering, Material Logistics or equivalent & 5+ years related experience in logistics/inventory in manufacturing environment. CPIM/APICS certification is a huge plus.
Strong experience in MRP, specifically in transportation, warehousing & inventory management modules is MUST.
Experience in lean manufacturing is huge plus.
Must have a professional attitude and approach at all times.
Strong leadership skills and aggressive approach for process improvements.
